The Westlake Historical Society takes pride in flying the flag at the museum. We also place flags in front of the museum on patriotic holidays. Unfortunately flags can take a lot of abuse due to weather. It is often necessary to replace our flags. We never want to fly a flag that has been ripped or torn. Once the flags are damaged they need to be removed and replaced.
Section 8k of the flag code states:
"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for
